The NRA has owned every Republican President since Ronald Reagan. When George H. W. Bush kicked them to the curb he became a one term President.

Yes, or maybe it was that Ross Perot ran as an independent, siphoning off substantial votes from Bush Sr. allowing Bill Clinton to win with only 43% of the vote.

Not just the NRA but gun owners and independents. Don't bow down to the leftist fascists, Mr. Trump. This anti gun hysteria is being done for a reason and you won't help yourself going along with it.

There is no more regulated consumer product than firearms.

In fact, only radioactive material is more regulated than firearms.

The problem is it isn't just "leftist fascists" but real voters that wasn't gun control and to increase the mental health exemptions to gun ownership. Only the gun lobby don't want that because of profits.

In a few weeks this story goes away. We will be in impeachment hearings. The IG's report and then Durham's investigation. Washington moves quick. That's why Chuckie Cheese Schumer wants them back now to rush this through because otherwise he knows he will never get it.

Nothing to do with the will of the people. It's about the right to self defense. That's what men do. Defend themselves.

You’ve got it backwards. The NRA exists to express the will of the people, the 5+ million members like myself. And no, corporate contributions aren’t that big a deal. Bloomberg business listed the top corporate contributors in a graphical format some years ago. Interestingly, the largest contributor by far was Midway. They have a “Round-Up Program” where buyers can voluntarily round up their purchase price to the nearest dollar with the overpayment amount going directly to the NRA. So, it turns out that the largest “corporate” contributor was one who simply passed on voluntary over-payment of customers.

The power of the NRA comes from its very politically active membership who can flood congress with mail and phone calls whenever needed.

LaPierre is very likely exaggerating the membership. Too many quietly have left, and more and more, the NRA is becoming irrelevant. It's become a mouthpiece for manufacturers, and no longer represents what it was actually established to do.
