It would seem that the NRA doesn't own them, now does it.

The truth is that there is quite a bit of opposition to including mental illness into the background checks, it's just not from the NRA, who are all for keeping guns out of the hands of people that are truly mentally ill.
No the NRA claims they want it. If the NRA REALLY wanted them, we would have it by now don't you think? The NRA is worried.about gun sales and markets themselves to gun owners. They really only care about.the manufacturers.

Yes, the NRA keeps calling for mental illness records to be included in background checks, but they really don't want it.

You really twisted yourself into a pretzel with that one.

The NRA has owned every Republican President since Ronald Reagan. When George H. W. Bush kicked them to the curb he became a one term President.

Yes, or maybe it was that Ross Perot ran as an independent, siphoning off substantial votes from Bush Sr. allowing Bill Clinton to win with only 43% of the vote.

The NRA is trying to protect a NATURAL RIGHT, specifically upheld in the Constitution. Nothing more.
Do you know what lobbyist do? They don’t have to donate. They write the laws - and many times congress doesn’t even read them

There really needs to be a ban on assault weapons but right now they’re even balking on background checks and red flags.

First you didn't know there are already universal background checks, now this.

You do know that the Supreme Court ruled that banning firearms in common usage is unconstitutional.

You are literally calling for something that has already been ruled unconstitutional.
