Does anybody think that the right to open carry should be restricted to hand guns only?
Is there a reason I don't understand for needing a rifle of any kind to be toted around in public?

They are all guns. Does one scare you more? Guess which one kills more people a year.

People using rifles in crime is EXTREMELY LOW. Inner city gang bangers that generate the vast amount of the deaths use hand guns. People that use a gun to commit suicide use a hand gun.

I think a person has a right to self protection and they alone are the best judge/decider of how to do so. Having said that, whoever owns the space should be the sole determiner of allowable behavior, attire, guns, no guns, etc. Who else or who better should decide these things?
Would I carry one around while shopping? No, I find carrying a long gun around is highly impractical for self defense purposes.

I have never seen a person open carrying a rifle, hand gun, or any firearm in public unless it was at a gun range, and I have lived all over the U.S. in states that allow open carry.

No.
Government has no authority to treat you as their property.

Government does not fear hand guns. Government fears 200 million snipers, that can hold them accountable.

Oh, I know people do it, I just have never seen it personally, and I conceal as do all of the other people I know that carry. My gun club now has almost 40% women membership. It's a great incentive to go practice.
