A man killed four people and wounded two in a string of robberies and stabbings in California's Orange County before he was arrested, police said Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Garden Grove man was taken into custody after he came out of a 7-Eleven store and dropped a knife and a gun that he had taken from a security guard before fatally stabbing him, police said. His name wasn't immediately released.

Yes. This man used machetes to kill those people, in my state those would be illegal. Make them illegal everywhere or illegal to purchase without a license or registration.
I am no more interested in banning all knives than I am no guns but this case exactly shows why we can get rid or or require registration for the ones that are being used most commonly to commit mass killings.
We should ban steak knives. They can be pretty sharp too.
Now that I think about it, you could probably even do some damage with a butter knife if you jab it hard enough in the right part of the body.
Probably best to ban all knives except plastic knives.

I understand the need to use the “slippery slope” but it IS a logical fallacy for a reason.
The man used multiple machetes. There is nothing wrong with limiting the sale or ownership for these particular weapons the same way there is nothing wrong with limiting the sale or ownership of assault rifles. Doing so does not remotely mean anyone is coming for your butter knives either.

Are those 4 lives less valuable because they were stabbed instead of shot? Less valuable because the assailant was Hispanic rather than white?
