In Peru and maybe equator too the old people will give you a trashing for being a thief or whatnot - police are scarce up in dar hills ! No more than you shooting people in your farm. I have no problem if the community comes together to eradicate the wicked, where there’s is no other law. They released the nat guard - but Mexico is the size of Europe. Not enough resources. Deputize the elders

Mexico is one fifth the size of Europe. Vigilantism is third world country behavior. It’s a pity you think so little of Mexico.

I think you need vigilantism when your police are part of the problem. If there is any place on earth that needs vigilantism it’s Mexico.

I watched a video on it (too long ago for me to find it now) and they pretty much become that which they are fighting against, including the collection of protection money.

Yes, Saltine, maybe we need even more of these types of civilian armies here in America. In fact, they could all put on white robes and hoods to hide their identities. Oh wait.......................

Give it a rest. She didn’t say we need that here.

Sadly, that is how things usually go.

Perhaps it starts with 'noble' intentions, but soon morphs into something that is just as bad as the original. Some of these groups also allow the manufacture and selling of drugs as well.

Good on the people of Mexico for standing up and achieving justice. Given our revolving door justice system that turns criminals free time after time to prey on innocent victims, I can see a point where the same thing happens in this country.

I have no desire to ever step foot in that country again.
