You recall correctly.

Using the following two stats:
  • DYAR = Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement. This gives the value of the quarterback's performance compared to replacement level, adjusted for situation and opponent and then translated into yardage.
  • DVOA = Defense-adjusted Value Over Average. This number represents value, per play, over an average quarterback in the same game situations.
In terms of DYAR, DVOA and QBR (the ESPN total rating) respectively, and ranking among all QBs who threw at least 10 passes:
  • 2013 - 8, 7, 7 (out of 58)
  • 2014 - 29, 32, 22 (out of 63)
  • 2015 - 55, 52, 39 (out of 61)
  • 2016 - 52, 47, 31 (out of 63)
Notice a trend?

Now, add in being 4-16 over his last 20 games, his lifetime ~60% completion avg, and injuries + defenses figuring him out = forcing his only real strength (running out of a read option) to be taken away...and yeah, you don't get much out of 33 year old Kaepernick, and that was before not playing a single snap for three years, which is where we are now.

All of that is considered before adding the icing on the cake of "and oh yeah, he's marketing/branding cancer with my fan base."

He's not good enough. Now out of the league three years, and no longer even good enough to be a back up.
I totally agree. Great post.

What rational person would take the word of trump? He knows nothing about anything, specifically sports which should be obvious to anyone with eyes.

No, he isn't. Even Sanchez is retired these days, he also got too many chances.

Let me look at Colin Kaepernick career as a 49er...Kaepernick was nothing but an average quarterback playing with some very talented players. When those players either left or were accused of varies misdeeds Kaepernick was expose as just that average quarterback....he was nothing special. His teammates was what make Kaepernick look better than he actually was.

The coaching staff knew this from day one and he was delegated to the bench when the real stars of the team departed. The 49ers coach Harbaugh left to go to the college ranks because he could see the hand writing on the wall that with Kaepernick he was nothing but a common backup with no future as a starter in the NFL.

He is simply not that good, and hasn't been since 2012. Period, the end.

Bingo! Plus he was never a student of the game, which you need to be to succeed in the NFL. He was happier spending time bulking up in the locker room instead of the film room. Death sentence for an NFL QB.

No he's not the best starting quarterback in the league; he's not the worst either. Statistically he's better than 8 current starting quarterbacks.

He's not working because of the National Anthem protests; not because of his talent level.

Actually, he is not working because he hasn't been offered a contract for years. The league has a few older QBs that are still employed.. He'd have a job if owners thought he has what it takes to help a team to win since that is the ultimate goal.

The ultimate goal for owners is to make money.
