It’s just local Detroit news. Macomb County used to be nearly all white prior to 2000. It certainly was an area that blacks did not go when I was in high school. Now....many inner ring suburbs on the east side are transitioning and those further out like Roseville are changing too...and many are not happy about it. I suspect we will hear from my poster buddy Retroit who lives in one of those suburbs now changing over.

It wasn't just parts of Macomb County. Livonia (in Wayne County) reached a population over 110,000 in 1970. It dipped below the 100,000 mark in 2010. However, in 2000 (when there was about 100,000 residents in Livonia), it was 95% White (this include a large Middle Eastern population) and 0.95% percent Black. As of 2010, Blacks are 3.4% of Livonia's population and Livonia has lost about 7,000 residents since 2000.
I decided to look up Macomb County. Today, Macomb County is likely 10 percent Black. Warren was 2.7% Black in 2000. By 2010, it was close to 14 percent Black. Mount Clemens was about 19 percent Black in 2000. I am thinking that it was just Mount Clemens that had a large Black population within Macomb County.

I would be remiss if I did not start out by saying that things are much better in the US, racially, than they have been through most of this nations history. Events such as these are NOT THE NORM and there are 300 million people in this nation. Hence, any single event can't be construed by any intelligent person to be "the norm'. These events are not representative of America.....and neither was the police attack against peaceful marchers in Selma, Alabama. Most civilized people do not behave like that......because most are never put in the situation that would create such reactions.
That said, the Great Lakes area is kind of stuck in the patterns of the 60's and 70's, when its boom era was coming to an end. Consequently, the region is the most racially segregated region in the nation, with cities like Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Flint.....being among the worst offenders in the nation. Fast growing metro areas with new residents and developments moving in grew out of those racial patterns and tribalism of "this is OUR neighborhood and you don't fit in or belong here". Probably the worst offender of that in metro Detroit was Dearborn....but as far as counties go....it was Macomb county for sure.
Race is still a HUGE issue in the Great Lakes region and its reflected by the level of segregation and racial polarization. Things, again, have improved.....but things are not destined to automatically keep improving. They can reverse and we seem to be in an era where improvements are slowing....if not reversing.
I did not say that things today are like the 50’s. I simply stated that such looked like things that went on in the 50’s. If you need me to say it....today is nothing like the 50’s, but that type of stuff still goes on.
Yet you equated it with the 1950s. You purposely made it a big deal. And you purposely threw in the 1950s. Nothing you posted was by happenstance.

This is one reason I'm waiting to get more details about this situation before I can make a judgement. Initially, this doesn't look good at all. It looks very savage.
I'm not surprised at all that someone automatically thinks "thug" when they think of a young Black male. And citing crime statistics regarding young Black men isn't going to change my mind on this.
So far, we don't have all of the facts. It does not look good. At someone who is kind of scared of dogs (and in particular, pit bulls), it scares the crap out of me. I don't know what started it. If it was racially motivated, that is going to worry me as a Black man.
I went and looked up Roseville. In 2000, Roseville was 93.4% White and 2.6% Black. In 2010, it was 83.1% White and 11.8% Black. Roseville's population peaked in 1970 at 60,529. As of 2018, 47,377 residents live in Roseville.
As a Black man? Why does the color of your skin matter as to what one should worry about? Should white people not be worried if it was racially motivated?

It went from 1 on 1, a fair fight, to a gangup. Plus whatever threat there was, that threat had been neutralized yet the use of force continued. It's a gutless move.
I am curious as to the context of what happened prior to what the video showed. If multiple White people attack a young Black guy and even use a dog (appears to be a Pit) on said young boy, assuming race a was a motivation is understandable. Heck, I would be surprised if race was not a factor all!
