President Trump is set to save American taxpayers billions of dollars as his administration announces a new rule on Monday that will essentially ban welfare-dependent legal immigrants from permanently resettling in the United States.

Welfare includes subsidized healthcare services, food stamps, and public housing.

That's billions with a B. Note that it's legal ones. I think this is a good way to get around chain migration.

Default New Trump Administration Rule Lets Officials Deny Green Cards to Immigrants Using Welfare Programs

good. but way overdue.

Quote:
The Trump administration issued a rule on Aug. 12 that lets U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services deny green cards to immigrants that would likely use welfare.

The 837-page plan applies to applications filed after Oct. 15 this year and is expected to affect approximately 400,000 annual applications.

The rule means a services officer reviewing an application will look at the applicant’s history of using welfare, such as food stamps, public housing assistance, and Medicaid.

“The principle driving it is an old American value, and that’s self-sufficiency,” U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Acting Director Ken Cuccinelli told Fox News. “It’s a core principle—the American Dream itself—and it’s one of the things that distinguishes us, and it’s central to the legal history in the U.S. back into the 1800s.”

They make it look like this is a brand new rule the evil Trump has conjured up. This is not a new rule. It has always been on the books.

"The “Affidavit of Support” is a signed document to accept financial responsibility for a spouse who is seeking a green card. It is also known as U.S. Immigration Form I-864."

The new trick is to headline old rules that have never been enforced as new.

Aside from the fake news putting a negative spin on it like always, mention it makes Trump look better to many people.

Default Trump ends welfare dependent immigration...saves taxpayers ~$60 billion a year

....articles say that studies show....over 60% of immigrant households are on some form...usually more than one...of welfare...and consume 33% more cash welfare than American citizen households
..while only about 35% of native born American households are on welfare

...says will save taxpayers about $60 billion a year

Before anyone screams Breitbart....there's links in the articles...following one link I found out that the highest cost per taxpayer was Minnesota....Omar's district

...said the study was by the National Academy of Science...and they got their numbers from the Census Bureau

lots of links to many articles, etc

Should have been done a long time ago. Thank god for Trump or this would never have been done.

People shouldn't be coming here to sponge off our country and get rewarded too with a green card.

It's an unknown of course, but the gov itself predicts an annual savings of $2.6 billion not 60 billion from immigrants who drop out of benefit programs to qualify for the green card. Remember too, that this only applies to legal immigrants not the millions who are here illegally. It does not apply at all to refugees and asylum seekers.

Most need a little help to get started. Be careful what you wish for. It must be in water but America tends to destroy bodies and minds, environment is that toxic. Without continious supply of eager unsuspecting immigrants of all kinds this country is a toast.
