If I were actually looking for a solution, I would be angry with the guy for wasting everyones time with an unconstitutional proposal that is completely meaningless and will just end up costing the city 1 million or so in legal fees after the ACLU steps in. (assuming he even follows through, in which case, he's throwing hot air)

If he were serious about the topic he could instead seek ways within the control of the city to try to avert such problems by tackling things that can be changed like expanded mental health care or increased policing cracking down on straw sales or gangs.

Anyone upset by the proposal go back to sleep, this one isn't going anywhere.

Anyone thinking this proposal will help fight the problem, well you've been had and need to ask yourself why the guy is BS'ing you and why you didn't spot it in the first place.
Yes to all of this. The mayor is light on any specifics and if he provided any he would be mashed like a bug. But this is all he needs to do for those who don't use their brain.

Well, if someone steals a car and then causes a wreck...which insurance pays for that?

Since the owner was not the driver, Im assuming it would impact or involve his insurance at all...but never know?!

Unisured motorist pool I would suspect if the thief has no insurance.

San Jose mayor proposes mandatory gun liability insurance
A sure sign of someone who doesn’t understand how Rights work is when they start talking about qualifications that one must go through in order to exercise those rights. If anyone were to suggest that the right to vote should require insurance, this mayor would lose his ever loving mind. Perhaps insurance for posting on the internet so that your freedom of speech doesn’t trigger someone? How do you think San Jose’s mayor would react to that?

Liberals, when you say 'no one wants to take your guns', this is proof positive you do. That's exactly what this is.

Doesn't have to. Its the same as health insurance, the law abiding and decent people end up paying for the scumbags

im sure gangmembers will surely buy extra coverage since they are likely to shoot more people and file insurance claims after they shoot someone

So I ask again, what is the point of the insurance and if people have it how will "the city stop paying for" the gun violence as the mayor has described? Long on rhetoric and short on details.
