In fairness, long on rhetoric and short on details is pretty standard for Democrats.

Please note that insurance policies do not cover intentional acts.

Again, if I lived out there I'd be insulted by this proposal.

It's right up there with a magic prayer bubble to deflect hurricanes as an actual policy proposal.

Mayor McMoron needs to put a tax on gang members that commit most of the violence. Perhaps they can pay per crime? What about having them collect tax on drug sales and then turn it in quarterly at city hall?

Well, they can pay that fee when they turn in the taxes they collect when selling illegal drugs of course.

I don't think it is worthless. I think it's something...it's a start, and it will force those who carry to take financial responsibility of the deadly weapon they carry around.

So what if criminals don't get the insurance? Many people are still wounded and killed by legal gun owners every year. Hell, if car insurance is mandatory, why shouldn't liability insurance for guns be?

You mean the people who would never use a firearm to commit a crime? They are the ones who should pay?

"Many people are wounded and killed by legal gun owners" - are you talking about accidental discharges? If they are accidents they pay the consequences. If they are criminal acts they also pay the consequences.

Who is going to underwrite such an insurance?

Here in the U.S. we don't license or insure our Constitutional rights.

It's completely stupid. People want to take money from others who own things they don't like. It doesn't matter that it won't stop a damn thing.

But i thought this was all about mass shootings ? Guess not, because this wouldn't have stopped them.
