Maybe we should invade again. It seems like the Germans need to be taught a lesson about every 75 years or so.

No................. forget it................ they are ruining their own country with Muslims and will eventually no longer be a part of NATO anyway, as they will be a Muslim state aligned with Iran.

I think Germany should leave Nato and expel all foreign, non-EU military.

Nato no longer makes sense to Germans since they don't consider Russia, or any other country for that matter, a military threat or enemy. Most Germans don't fall for US war-mongering. So the whole idea that US armed forces protect Europe from oh so evil Russia is outdated. They know why those forces are there, thanks to leaks and what not.

If Poland is so happy about foreign military on its soil, fine, go ahead and turn yourself into a potential battle field.
Even in the framework of the Russian threat theory, Germany would be just as safe outside Nato because of all the buffer states around it. Just the way Austria and Switzerland are safe, despite not being in Nato.

One problem is the mixing of two things: Nato on the one hand and US military on the other. The US military in Germany is not only there because of Nato, but also because of unilateral American activities. Germany should finally put an end to being part of those not seldom shady activities, to put it mildly.

No more direct or indirect payments to Nato anymore, not a single cent. Instead Germans should use the money to build their own defense, and really only that, nothing offensive, buying stuff from European companies, not American ones.

The only thing I wonder about Germany is that I don't know what they have been doing with all those billions earned during the boom years (which are about to end). They have neglected their infrastructure, they are lagging behind in key industries including digital stuff. They are still sitting on a huge mountain of debt. Many municipalities are broke. So, where has all that money gone?!

I think Merkel is a pretty incompetent, hypocritical moron, she might hold a doctor's title in physics, but politics and economics are not her strengths.

USA should not be protecting Europe. They're rich enough to protect themselves.

We made it our requirement. We did it for ourselves. We'd rather fight the Russians in Europe then in NY/DC/Boston.

Germany has been one of our great allies since the WWII. Not sure why anyone would all of a sudden demonize the country.

Oh, I know. Idiot Trump doesn't like Merkel.

She's done fine in a tumultuous time.

Germany has a lot going for it. Much better quality of life than in the USA. Safer to live, too. Great mass transit, great health care. Beauty. A lot of what our country isn't.

It's political, strategic, self serving.
.
exactly -- we have some dumb, uninformed people in our country who are clueless about our mission in other countries.

I think Germany is overrated. Health care is not that great at all. There are many cases of malpractice and wrong diagnoses, and unlike in the US there is no point in suing the doctor. Not to mention the two-tier healthcare system with private patients being preferred.

Mass transit is good in big cities, but that is also the case in the US. If you live in smaller cities or towns, connections are often so infrequent that you have to use a car, anyway. And at the weekend there is often hardly any service at all. And Germany is a rather small country, much easier to operate a mass transit system in than in the US, Canada or Russia.

Beauty? Some places are beautiful, but many are not. Depends on the region. Isn't it the same in the US if you are honest?

But yes, it is safer, no fear of being shot.

LOL that or the fact that nobody likes a freeloader. Germany has been freeloading for too long.

Russia as an enemy? Isn't it the left that suddenly started screaming Russia Russia Russia?

Trump is an Idiot, on that we agree.

USA holds military bases in Germany for self serving purposes.

They pretend NOW it is some generous service.

It isn't.

Germany should call the USA bluff and tell them to get the hell out.

What do you think would happen...the USA would start looking for other countries in the area to set up bigger bases or new bases.

It is strategic for the USA to have a presence in Germany.

If you can't understand that -- just -- oh okay.
