When they go after Kimmel then I'll believe they are serious. Blackface - check. And The Man Show, sleazy sexist humor and having young women grope his crotch.

He makes fun of Trump. Perhaps because he has to. If he defends Trump (or makes fun of Trump's opponents), the media will axe his career and blacklist him.

But when having this discussion among those who are happy to see celebrities punished for their past material, Kimmel's got to be in the conversation.
Personally I think comedy should be allowed to push boundaries and be edgy. Howard Stern had a real KKK guy on his show many times, and did an experiment called The n***er or the Nazi, where they would have a black guy and a guy dressed in a full Nazi uniform standing on a NYC street hailing a cab to see who got picked up, and the cabbies would often bypass the black man and pick up the Nazi. It was "funny" but of course uncomfortable, and edgy comedy does that.
The Man show was so over the top that it highlighted sexism and Bro Culture, so I think it was also edgy.
Silverman's show made you feel kind of uncomfortable because she played a grown woman with the mind and appearance of a spoiled, narcissistic child. Thus she could get away with saying and doing shocking things.
Same with South Park, cartoon 4th graders that can say anything but there's a message.
PC humor is hollow and dull. There is no edge, art or message.
When I see my fellow liberals eating their own- like they did with Al Franken and Garrison Keillor- I wonder if we've finally reached Peak Moral Panic.
And then a story like this comes along. Even being a rabid SJW Jewish Female isn't enough to be forgiven for retroactively-defined Social Justice Blasphemy.

I wasn't around for the "red scare" and McCarthyism but I am starting to imagine this is what it felt like. "Gee Bob, your college roommate was in the communist party we just can't hire you anymore."

I think that you're picking up just a hint of what it takes to "get a pass" or at least just a slap on the wrist from the SJW mob but it's probably a truth you're not going to be able to internalize.
