They live in a fantasy world where communism means getting free money for doing nothing. They don't understand enough about history to know about forced collectivism and the massive starvation that caused. Tens of millions died due to communism. There hasn't been any communist countries that haven't had massive death tolls.

Uncontrolled capitalism is evil. There has to be a healthy balance or uncontrolled consumerism and greed for money takes over. Too much emphasis on money, money, money. Work, work, work.

Change the minds of Americans from wanting to be filthy rich to just being stable and happy not needing a huge mansion with 5 cars.

not by force, but just stop worshiping money..

That's the challenge.

Unfortunately, people often think in black and white terms: a country is either capitalist or socialist. But the US reality has been that there is always a blend. I think it will continue to be a blend of capitalist and socialist beliefs/systems. It is just that the actual balance is continually shifting. Those people that think the leftists will turn us into a "communist state" are guilty of such thinking. Even if the balance shifts more toward socialism, with universal healthcare, etc., that will be by no means the end of capitalism. I think that the OP is right that uncontrolled capitalism is a bad thing, but I also believe that complete socialism is a bad thing. Compromise, and pragmatic solutions are best.

I got into a field that isn't my ideal job but I've progressed so far in my field so that the only way out is to take a substantial pay cut and move into a different line of work. It's my choice though to stay so I take responsibility for that. I've decided that I like the financial stability more than the risk of leaving.
Communism is freedom from our corporate overlords.

Compared to me, YOU are probably filthy rich. Where do you draw the line. 20K a year sound good to you? If you make any more than that, your excess earnings go to the indigent fund. How about that?

If you "need" more than about 400 sq ft of home and an auto any bigger than a Chevy spark, you are a glutton. Sound good?

The best thing for an endangered species is capitalism.
For example: Deer hunting is a big business and it turns out deer hunters are some of the best stewards of deer populations and habitat due to their desire to maintain a supply of deer to hunt.
The govt maintains no-hunt zones and endangered species lists which leads to a limited supply,an increased value of the species on the black market and further incentives to poach. Result? Extinction.
