gun control lost TN for Gore. had he won his HOME state, Florida would not have mattered and Bush would have lost.
gun control was a Central Plank for Hillary's Platform. money may influence, but core beliefs make someone go vote.
The only gun control that will really work is to repeal 2A which is not something the President has any control over. So as a practical matter the Dem candidate should just play the same lip service that Trump does with softball statements about enhanced background checks (which is not affecting any honest gun owner anyway) and don't use the words "gun control".
There just isn't enough money in firearms manufacturing to make Washington DC sit up and take notice.
Quote:
The NRA may exert a massive and real influence on Washington, DC, but its campaign contributions can’t possibly be the corrupting agent singlehandedly thwarting meaningful action on gun control, as many of the analyses above suggest.
And, they say, we can come pretty close to proving it.
It's a lost cause for the Left and they know it. All they can hope for is an organic cultural shift that could take centuries.
Yet they persist and may incite civil war with their actions. Go figure.

Gun control has become an ideological issue in America. The anti gun crowd could dump more money into contributions than the pro gun crowd and there would still be a strong resistance to their stupidity. Yes, stupidity. When the party pushing for gun control is the party responsible for most of the major atrocities in United States history and they have managed to garner enough support that there is even a chance of yet another gun law being passed, that’s stupidity.
