I suspect many 'firsts' failed at some level.

So do we just never try again?

Interesting philosophy.

The only place that type of road might work is the desert but there you'd have the problem of blowing sand, not leaves as in France.

Just repair the roads we have now and people would be ecstatic.

Solar friggin roads!!

This is a proof of concept- not the final product by a long shot. Lessons are being learned here. There will be design improvements and better calculations next time.

Should the calculations look favorable, somebody will make the next (better) attempt. And so on.

We'd still be in the horse & buggy era if it was up to some folks.

Climate Cultist: "How can we make solar panels less efficient?"

Engineer: "Have you tried laying them flat on the ground and driving over them?"

It seems to me spending the money on solar rooftops would be a better idea

LOL... how would that work in heavy traffic? Or if there is an accident and cars are moving at 5mph to get around emergency vehicles?

"And if that doesn't make for the least level of efficiency...then let's build the solar road at the same latitude as International Falls, Minnesota, in a place where the sun is obscured by cloud cover more than 50% of the year."

"Yeah...that's the ticket! We can waste a whole boatload of money if we do it that way!"
