Rifles. If you add in shotguns then it exceeds hammers and clubs.

You know what else that chart confirms? That 2/3rds of all murders are committed with firearms of all types. 11,000 out of 15,000 murders were committed by firearms.

Got that? Over two-thirds of all murders in the US are committed with firearms.

Handguns are the primary culprit.

If there were statistics for mass killings (outside of a home) Rifles would be the runaway winner. You're not killing 50+ people from a tower with your hammer.

Here is another fact

That's 11,000 firearms out of probably 1/2 a million firearms. That's .00022% of total.

Yet more people are killed by hammers than guns. Rifles that is.

They banned guns in the UK, so now knives have replaced guns as murder weapons. They have a lot of real problems with knives now.

In Switzerland, guns are required to be in every household, and they have low gun murder rates.

Same in Kennesaw Georgia.

Total. Absolutely. As it should. You don't get angry and go get your rifle. You get angry and grab your hammer or something close at hand.

People's knee jerk reaction is that they don't like public mass killings. Those are usually conducted with rifles due to high magazine capacity, and longer range, often with a handgun backup.

Multiple victims from a single offender shows 972. The preponderance are single victim incidents.
