"strangelove" was originally intended to be a drama. kubrick was having difficulty adapting the book, "red alert", without things sounding completely ridiculous that..... he just gave up trying and made it a dark comedy from the exact same source material. he also didn't tell slim pickins it was a comedy. slim is playing his role straight.
Think will be a cyber war. Once they cut power - communication -we are defenseless. No need to burn our faces off
maybe as civilians, but you can bet the government and the military have plenty of back up sources for power, including the necessary fuel to run the generators for long periods of time.
