Why of course! Instead of shooting six officers he would have just tossed his guns out the window and surrendered if only they had just signed some new guns laws!

The agenda of the Democrats is clear. Disarm the law abiding. Make them defenseless and even more dependent on government.

Does Philly have lax gun laws? Did this shooter own his guns legally? Interesting that a career thug and criminal uses guns to resist arrest and it's his law abiding neighbors that the left wants to punish and take rights away from. It's almost as if this incident is just being used as an excuse to enact a pre-existing agenda.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney:

“This government, both on federal and state level, don’t want to do anything about getting these guns off the streets and getting them out of the hands of criminals. This guy is clearly a criminal, he was a criminal — he had, apparently a long record which I’m not sure, I don’t have it in front of me — but has been involved in the criminal justice system before. And he was able to get these weapons and a large magazine, a large amount of bullets.

“So whether it’s our six officers who were shot or it’s some 15, 17, 20-year-old kid on the streets of Philadelphia who gets shot with guns that shouldn’t be in people’s hands, it’s aggravating, it’s saddening and it’s just something we need to do something about. And if the state and federal government don’t want to stand up to the NRA and some other folks, then let us police ourselves. But they preempt us on all kinds of gun control legislation.

Our officers deserve to be protected and they don’t deserve to be shot at by a guy for hours with an unlimited supply of weapons and an unlimited supply of bullets. So it’s disgusting and we have to do something about it”

So.....

If it was already illegal for him to possess a firearm....

What law do you propose that would make it more illegal?

And how do you think it will actually work if the current laws didn't?

Why don't Libs just come out and admit that there is no law that they can pass short of a full on ban of all firearms, replete with door to door confiscations that will satisfy them?

Ask your average rank-and-file cop who's actually on the front lines and not a politically appointed suck-up what they think of gun control laws and mostwill tell you they're pointless at best and counterproductive at worst.

If you think the problem is guns and not the moral rot and perilously frayed social fabric, just watch the video showing what those Philly cops had to deal with from the community while they're being shot at.

Black people harassing mostly BLACK COPS. You'd think they'd want t help them to stop this violent criminal, but they always take the side of the bad guys.

Convicted felon.... He was forbidden to have a firearm.

Natural Law - If you walk the streets of society freely, you have all your rights and government will not be able to deny those rights unless they incarcerate you, or kill you. The right to Life, Liberty & Property, supersedes, the laws of men.

The idea that we can't have sensible gun control laws is NRA and Russian BS.
What in the hell makes you think career felons or those intent on doing harm but are otherwise prohibited from legally buying a gun (adjudicated mental illness, etc.) won't get one illegally on the US's vast and very lucrative black market? That's how the majority of such persons acquire them.

Quote:
"A national survey of inmates of state prisons found that just 10 percent of youthful (age 18-40) male respondents who admitted to having a gun at the time of their arrest had obtained it from a gun store. The other 90 percent obtained them through a variety of off-the-book means: for example, as gifts or sharing arrangements with fellow gang members. Similarly, an ongoing study of how Chicago gang members get their guns has found that only a trivial percentage obtained them by direct purchase from a store."
