A female pilot has filed a lawsuit against her former employer after, she claims, she was terminated for being “too short” to fly. The lawsuit, filed on the grounds of gender discrimination, states that three male colleagues, who were deemed "too tall," were unfairly reassigned to other jets.
Pilot Shari Drerup, who has been flying for 14 years and has logged approximately 4,000 flight hours as a pilot, says she now feels like a "failure" for having been terminated from her dream job, a staff position with the world's largest private jet company, NetJets.
I can understand, if a physical limitation prevents you from doing the job. In the 45 years that I installed floorcovering, only one woman that asked for a job had the physical strength to do it. They had to be able to carry one end of carpet rolls weighing 300-400 lbs. I hired that one woman.
When I was growing up I wanted to be a fighter pilot, so I went to a local recruiters office in HS and found out I was too tall as I'm 6'6". I did not sue. Though I cannot control my height.
In this day and age though anyone should be able to do anything they want..regardless of limitations.
That is the mindset and for some jobs that could end up killing innocent people, lots of them.
I would imagine one of the prerequisites to being a good pilot is being able to reach the controls. Google tells me minimum height for jet fighter pilot is 5'4" so she would not qualify for that either.

"is being able to reach the controls." and being to see properly out the windshield.
Being able to reach controls under conditions where you might be dealing with positive, negative or lateral g forces is a critical part of being able to deal with an in-air emergency.
It's life and death we are talking about, so hurt feelings are not relevant.
The issue is she was terminated instead of being transferred to another plane she could fly, like the three males were who were too tall.
