Other countries didn't use the term assault rifles, what they banned were semi-automatic center-fire rifles.

The 2nd Amendment neither grants nor protects rights. Gun ownership is a property right, and property rights are absolute. No one has the right to tell another person what they can and cannot own.

As all militias should be private, it would up to them who they admit.
