So if someone goes to buy a AR-15 just say it's for defense and it will be ok then since you won't be using it to assault , just for defense.

"AR-15 defense weapon" keep them legal

"AR-15 assault weapon" make them illegal

Cops have them. So do most government agencies.

If you're saying the entire U.S government should be disarmed I'm on board 100%.

Of course they are in favor of the State having them. They believe the State is benevolent.

I always love reading comments to a article like this, anti gun people who support bans really are morons, like user barnburner in the comments section.

Notice that he can't help but bring "white men" into the debate and say that those that aren't college educated are lesser than.

Typical liberal.

You don't need an assault weapon for self defense.

A shotgun is a better home defense weapon anyway.

You don't need a AR15 to kill mass amounts of people, a revolver and shotgun will do just as well.

As has been said about Dayton.

Six trained police officers with semi-automatics took 65 rounds in 20 seconds to stop the perpetrator. Interestingly the perp fired only 41 rounds in 32 seconds... makes you wonder which calibers were found in the people killed.

Why should any private citizen be denied the right to defend themselves in a manner similar to these police officers?

The police clearly need semi-automatics with >10 round magazines, its logical to presume that in the circumstance you may be in a situation like the police were, you too would need a semi-automatic with 30 round magazines, given you're not a professional LEO.

There's a simple 'common sense' rule that can be applied. If the police need the firepower, the private citizen equally needs the fire power. They both have the risk of attending the same circumstances, however the private citizen does not have the benefit of knowing the situation before they arrive.
