What is the difference between Trump and Greenland? One can be bought.
If the economy takes a dump like they are saying, which is what is holding him up right now. He might need a place to run to, to hide from his shame thats growing. But then again, he has no shame. Do they have banks there that he could snag a loan.
So 56000 people live in Greenland. You think they'd sell for a million $ a head? You'd need $56B. Vanguard 500 Index Fund Admiral Shares market cap is $380B, and it's not the largest.
Oh wow! A whole $56B? That's like - 4 months of Denmark's tax revenue in return for perpetually giving up an appreciating asset worth several hundred times more. Where do we sign?
Is this supposed to be another "outrage?" People laughed at buying Alaska too. How much?
That was exactly my first thought.
Maybe a crazy idea, perhaps, but people laughed at the Alaska purchase too....so don't' be too quick to ridicule the idea.
If global warming is here to stay, and it's advancing, which we're reminded 100 times a day it is, why is asking if Greenland is for sale such a stupid idea?
I keep hearing about this, is there any proof or is this just another fake story from cnn based on info from “Anonymous Sources” as usual?
How is anything from an “Anonymous Source” news anyways? If I call up cnn and tell them lies will they report that too?
it is an attempt to generate interest from the TDS afflicted, and clearly worked as do most of their efforts. Most TDS - and they even tell you in their responses - don't even bother to read beyond what definitely sounds absurd "Trump wants to buy Greenland".
The reality is we tried before.
The reality is Denmark subsidizes Greenland
The reality is we already have strategic defensive assets on the island, and it would only make it more important.
Now, is there a chance it would actually happen? Not bloody likely, since the Danes have rebuffed us before. And even subsidizing Greenland to the tune of 500+MM a year is a very small part of their budget.
Bad idea. Would turn out badly, just like Alaska which is still considered to be Sewards Folly and didn't turn out so well.
