No one can do it as well as Trump so we are fortunate to have him in place now and the next 5 years. It's a situation where you have to be patient to stick to what you want without causing massive panic...like I said, only Trump could do what the's doing.

Never happen. And Trump's being so tough on China that he's delayed a ban on Huawei working with U.S. firms. Yep, he's tough alright. Until it affects his poll numbers. He's just a bunch of hot air.

Confront China over what exactly?

China has been expanding its military posture by building artificial islands. We need to confront China over that but that is largely a diplomatic and military issue.

We have a trade imbalance with China but most economists say so what, America wants cheap products so buy them. Trade wars are a thing of the past. They only hurt the consumer and never succeed in gaining anything else.

China has been expanding its influence into third world countries to secure mineral rights. We definitely need to do something about that but that is really a State Department thing using foreign aid to out-influence China in those countries.

Lastly China has been stealing American technology. Trade wars are not the way to stop that. We need to punish the companies that have been stealing tech from us by blocking them internationally. Trump tried to put together a coalition to do just that but the trouble he has pissed off all of our former allies with his tweets and taunts that they won't have anything to do with him anymore.

If only the Chinese would trade fairly, it would benefit everyone.

The Chinese have

1. manipulated currency
2. put up unlawful trade barriers to American products
3. dumped commodities on the US market below cost to kill competition
4. Stolen US patents/technology
5. Used dangerous materials in their products
6. Have made illegal knock off products
7. Have engaged in massive human rights abuses in their manufacturing
8. Are the biggest polluter in the world

The US had to do something, or face a slow, economic death. Trump is doing the right thing; every other president ignored the problem, much to the detriment of the nation.

Liberals, of course (liberals are always wrong) oppose Trump's efforts and would allow the Chinese to become stronger and eventually own us. Thank God there is a POTUS who has the guts to do something.

Actually one area I will give reluctant credit for.

In the short term the trade war is horrible.
In the long run, many companies are rethinking factories in China. Almost anywhere but China is preferable.

Yep, China is a continued rising empire of oppression, lack of human rights and overall communism:

*Harassment of activists and dissidents

*Persecution of people for religious beliefs

*Discrimination against ethnic minorities

*Torture for those detained for opposing political or religious views

*Government censorship of internet and media

*Lack of labor rights: very low wages, poor working conditions, migrant workers abused

*Lack of land rights--government taking land unlawfully

*China's poor treatment of those with developmental and mental disabilities

...and many more

I think Trump is doing the right thing with the tariffs. We'll see.

He is the only president in the modern era that has the b*lls to confront China.

It's awfully late for us to be attempting to strong arm the Chinese. They own too much of our debt.
Our business relationships with them should have evolved into what they are today.
