It's nothing new. They shut the smart, hard-working, high-achieving Jews out of the Ivy League in the 30s and 40s because there were too many of "them." FDR was on the Board of Directors at Harvard and instituted/approved the Jew quotas.

P.S. FDR was a Democrat. Just saying.

What if ever does this have to do with this thread?

And who were the people marching in Virginia "Jews won't replace us"?

A bunch of bigots on the fringes. White nationalists are very small in number - some chapters have 40 members. But who were the 10,000 people at Farrakhan's rally listening to him saying, "Jews are termites."? And who was the leader of the Women's Group who kicked a Jewish woman out of her role because she said having a Jew in a leadership role made blacks uncomfortable?

But we're not talking about loons on the extremes, but that the Democrats appear to be taking a very tolerant view of antisemitism among their own (even inviting Farrakhan to CBC conference, where Obama took a photo op with him) - and it's very different when it's at the highest level of government. Just look at who Tlaib partnered with on her aborted trip to Israel - some rapid anti-Semitic group publishing articles about how evil Jews drank Christians' blood for Passover.)

So we come full circle: Will the Democrats' soft-peddling of antisemitism (refused to issue an antisemitism resolution) and their opposition to Israel (via support of the BDS movement) cause Jews to move away from the New Anti-Israel Party?

My answer: The secular progressive Jews will stick with the Dems. The moderately religious and politically centrist Jews, particularly older ones, may refuse to vote for the Dem.

I promise that 90% plus who voted went GOP along with Rachel.

FDR, BTW, had Morgenthau as perhaps his #2 or #3 man.

"Morgenthau was the first and only Jew to be first in the presidential line of succession."

Rachel conveniently forgot to mention that.

Source for your 90% figure? As far as I can find out, Rachel is correct that these 'white nationalists' (a label which Richard Spencer accepts) are fringe and few in number. The second annual white nationalist rally in Charlottesville attracted only about 2 dozen people, and that seems to be typical for their rallies.

It's really a slimeball tactic to try to link the white nationalists to the GOP, and bear in mind I'm not a Republican. The overwhelming majority of Republicans, including Trump, disavow and denounce the white nationalists.

If you read interviews of Richard Spencer, he is far from being a conservative Republican. In fact he's more of a big-gov't guy. And Jason Kessler, who organized the first Charlottesville protest, was an 'occupy wall street' activist. This is actually not uncommon, since both the far-left and the white nationalists are obsessed with identity politics. See Death of a Nation by Dinesh D'Souza. He has a chapter on Spencer and other white nationalists.

FDR was an odd mix in a way. It's true he hired Morganthau, but it's also true he returned the Jews of the St. Louis to the Nazis seeking to exterminate them. Craiggirl conveniently forgot to mention that.

Roosevelt has almost as much Jewish blood on his hands as Adolph Hitler or Joseph Stalin. He enabled both. Morgenthau, for his part, was had altitude sickness from being so close to power. A lot like Icarus' journey to the sun.

According to historian Paul Johnson, FDR frequently used anti-Semitic language in his private conversations. I'll have to dig up the quote. He also had strong alliances with the southern segregationists of the time, who were usually also anti-Semitic.

I'd agree that FDR generally had a mixed record on these kinds of things. He's now 75 years in the rear-view mirror, so that has to be kept in mind too.
