As someone with a couple of academics in my extended family, I've noticed the more degrees they have, the less common sense and ability to navigate in the wider world they have.

i had a bizarre debate in this forum once where a poster was insisting that an uneducated/uninformed opinion was just as valid as an educated/informed opinion. i pointed out that if that were true you could just go to a random neighbor if you were having car trouble or pick the first person on the street if you needed medical attention instead of going to a mechanic or doctor. she insisted i was wrong and wouldn't budge from her belief.

What does that mean to you?
It means:

Don't look at evidence, listen to demagogues

Reject science, accept corporatist propaganda

Run your life on raw emotion instead of intellect

Be a reactionary, not a thinker

We're livin' it.

So it seems we have a back and forth with planks and splinters in this thread. Guess what, the nation is loaded with dumbasses of all persuasions and politicians work it to their fullest advantage. Don't be a dumbass.

The thread title accurately describes many SJWs and alt-Right members.

Yes they have and the dangerous and inherent problem and with the intellectual crowd is they dont admit to their mistakes, because doing so would destroy any credibility they have for future posturing, policy suggestions, etc.

Yep, we still have Marxists. I mean how many mass starvations are required before they understand it doesn’t just need a little tweaking.

They need to address "camps" before the mass starvations.

Have any countries who went down that path not had camps where they sent those who might not agree with the program?

Asimov was clearly talking about conservatives and their disdain for education, science and rational thinking. The modern conservative movement has become a personality cult centered on crazy conspiracy theories.
