Umm maybe the traditional media focused so much on Mueller investigation because people wanted to hear about it? Media talks about what gets the most readership. Don’t know why some have to turn it into a conspiracy.

Racism is the foundation since they discussed and rejected outlawing slavery in the Constitution Convention of 1786. It was not until the 13th Amendment that slavery was outlawed. It was implicitly allowed. That is what the staffer was referring to.

That doesn't make it 'the foundation.' They also discussed making Philly or NYC the capitol. A deal was reached to make DC the capitol in exchanged for debt 'assumption,' which was something fervently wanted by Alexander Hamilton. Is this decision therefore 'foundational?'

Digging further...

The NYT and the triumph of narrative journalism

Here are two ‘narratives’ for you to consider:

a) Donald Trump is a New York Republican who became president by accident. His primary interest for future historians will be his use of new digital technologies like Twitter.

b) Donald Trump is a white nationalist. His primary interest for future historians will be his mobilization of white resentment to build a Fourth Reich in North America.

Narrative A is probably closer to the truth than Narrative B. But it’s certainly less exciting than Trump being Hitler, or a Russian agent. Narrative B is far more dramatic. It’s darkly historic. It’s going to be all over the New York Times for the next year. It shifts books. It drives engagement. It gets people out on the street and to the voting booths.

There is an obvious objection to this: aren’t the president’s lies more important than those of the Times? Trump lies with breathtaking alacrity, there’s no denying or excusing it.

But the most interesting thing about this presidency is that reactions to Trump have unveiled truths far greater than any lies he has told. Like Tony Montana at the end of Scarface, Trump somehow always tells the truth – deep truths about America – even when he lies.

...
How they react to him tells you who they really are, and what they really want. The ‘narratives’ they weave, and the facts they’re happy to omit from those stories reveal even more.

Trump has prompted radical liberals to expose themselves that otherwise would never have happened.

Mainstream media, doing what they do.
The people in this nation will not be free and self-determinant until the mass media is out of the hands of Oligarchs and everyone associated with them.

anyone else out there recall the story of Ota Benga, an African man who was brought to NY and displayed in a cage with apes in 1906?
https://www.thedailybeast.com/when-t...-the-bronx-zoo
(photo at link)

The NYT was at the forefront defending this:

Quote:
“Bushman Shares a Cage with Bronx Park Apes,” The New York Times headlined on Sept. 9, 1906. The subhead reported.... The Reverend James H. Gordon lamented: “Our race, we think, is depressed enough, without exhibiting one of us with apes....”
The Times’ editors, among others, disagreed with Gordon.... the paper editorialized: “Not feeling particularly vehement excitement ourselves over the exhibition of an African ‘pigmy’ in the Primate House of the Zoological Park, we do not quite understand all the emotion which others are expressing in the matter... it is absurd to make moan over the imagined humiliation and degradation he is suffering.”
This was not 1619, not 1706, not 1806, but 1906, barely over 100 years ago. Physician, heal thyself.

Now you hear that phrase literally dozens of times per day.

My 10yo son remarked that the "news sure does like to say that word a lot". Good grief.

You let your son watch all that stuff. You're right, Good grief!

Racism is the democrat party #1 issue: trump is racist and the 63 million who voted for him are racist.

Given the problems in this country, is racism really a major problem? according to the middle class folks I know, of all races and religions, it is not even a top 10 issue.

Racism and sexism are a common platform for members of either major American party, especially a Flat-Earth SJW nagging mother-in-law that lives in a van down by the river.
