I thought back in the day the NY times was supposed to be the gold standard in journalism. From what I hear anyways.

Sounds like the OP does not read the NYT. No -- they have not 'focused' on the story any more than it deserved. The president obstructing justice is a pretty big story.

They cover a huge amount of subjects every day.

The President obstructing justice is a pretty big story. When it happens, it should be covered; creating it in the press and media is another story. Now it's on to creating a recession...
