Meh- throw the jackers in jail for uttering and inciting terror.

Take away their ‘right’ to own firearms.

Phsst.

This is absolutely getting way out of control ! Where are these idiots coming from who think it would be fun to kill other people, people they do not even know ?

If there is anything that will end our society as we know it, it is going to be these kinds of people.

If they're guilty of a crime then the courts will determine the outcome.

One for sure isn't exactly high risk when he was alleged to claim to want the worlds longest confirmed kill shot (currently 3.871 yards) and only had possession of a 22 rifle (it's not said if its center fire or rim fire, but it's irrelevant given the BC of a 22).

The general issue is you can't prosecute someone for a crime until they commit said crime. If they've committed a crime, then prosecute them, but you can't make crimes up out of thin air because you think they might do something. That road leads to very dark places.

Now if only most of the mass shootings or attempted mass shootings here could be resolved like this.

You don't know if it resolved any.

What may be averted cannot be quantified, because it never happened. We don't know how many crimes are prevented solely from the risk of being confronted by a gun owning defender. By the same measure we don't know how many tyrannies we've prevented by public ownership of firearms. Thus we don't know whether any of these prevented anything. It's all speculation.

End gun free zones. 94% of mass shootings happen in gun free zones.

So, your idea is to do nothing at all, and just wait this out?

I'm asking sincerely.

Rare that a sensational mass shooter advertises on social media or texts someone with their intentions.

Imagine their defenses will claim their clients were seeking attention, joking or otherwise not serious.

I'm suggesting that they receive prosecution for crimes they have committed.

What's your alternative? Prosecuting them for some unknown action they might have taken at some point in the future? Doesn't that apply to everyone within the jurisdiction of the United States?
