I'm not the one that made the claim the market is small for women and they generally prefer vibrators. How it usually works is if you make a claim you have some back up material, no? I googled it and found nothing. Since the poster made the claim I assume the poster had some info I did not.

As another poster said, yes there has been.
LOL on the band.
Well the other poster said decades and what I could find its more like 2015, 2016 in the US. And I found nothing on the numbers of male vs. female purchases.

I mean, yeah, I would ~guess~ that there are more men buying them...but I don't think that a whole lot of anyone is buying them at this point. They are too $$-costly-$$. Men with the wealth to buy one, probably are just weird dudes with a kink, not dudes who can't get laid. I doubt if they're using them as substitutes for sex they wish they were having. I'd guess that it's an odd kink for the women who have them, too, or they're making weird porn. In the vid I posted, pretty sure the woman they talked to towards the end, who has one, is a porn star. It's certainly not because she can't get a real partner either.

Anyhow I think it's too early to even talk about statistics of ownership, as rare as anyone even owning one is anyways.

It's not a semantics argument. Sex is more than just a physical release to many if not most. So there are emotional, spiritual, and other things that comfort and fulfill people beyond just GETTING OFF, which is what doing it with a robot is.

A robot is just a mechanical masturbatory aid like a plethora of others. Again, if you want that, knock yourself out, just don't get stuck in it. LOL!

So, knock yourself out, buy any masturbatory aid you need, but its not SEX.

Sex in its vernacular means many things, including ejaculation. Doesn't matter if that is into another person or into a garbage can. Still sex, AKA "sexual act."

See post #204. No, still not sex. There is a reason there are the words "sex", and "masturbation". One means with another human, the other means alone, and if you are with a robot, you are still ALONE. You can pretend otherwise all you want, and if it helps your FANTASY, then go for it.

But what if the robot wants to hear about your Camaro?

See dictionary (there are a bunch of definitions and you conveniently overlooked the ones you didn't like):

Sex

2a : sexually motivated phenomena or behavior.

Now you tell me... is masturbation a sexually motivated phenomena/behavior or is it something folks do as they are cooking eggplant for dinner?

It depends on the eggplant.

...which gives me a great idea.

Someone should define a new sort of Turing test. Can a robot's intimacy become indistinguishable from the average human female?

It may well be easier to pass than the current one.
