Does this statement ring a bell? "Too soon after this tragic shooting to talk about gun control."

Republic is another name for plutocracy, plutocracy is tyranny of the moneyed elites. The end. Rightwingers are hilarious because they believe they can join the club anytime never mind the fact that the Congress does not have a single soul who shares social, financial background of a rank and file talk radio junkie, and all the members have almost opposite self interest on all matters that count, they represent you in the most hollow sense of the word and that's precise point of American Republic, you get an illusion of participation, they get real power serving their needs first and foremost.

Tryanny is when the people donít have a voice in who gives the orders
Europe has that -eu leaders appointed not elected
We dont have that here
We have a system itís being attacked
We need to defend it not make accommodations for those who break the law and try to run over our system
The system works
Cops and soldiers are part of that system

You implicitly consent to that which you do not oppose. Nobody in any country has to consent to anything, but self-preservation, common sense and practicality make even the most principled amongst us implicitly consent to all kinds of tyranny every minute of every day.

Belief and fear are powerful things, and they who control the belief and the fear control the real power. The Branch Davidians were referenced in another thread, but useful here by asking this question - what was the government's real success in that whole fiasco?

They rooted out bad man Koresh and his weirdo cult? Nope.

They made everyone feel safer because they recovered "illegal weapons?" Nope.

Here's their victory condition --> hey everyone out there pondering their liberty and who controls what...look what happens to people who resist our violations of the 4th Amendment. When we knock and say we have a warrant, you better open that f***ing door, or we'll kill you and burn that s**t to the ground. Any further questions about who is boss up in this biotch? Didn't think so, now carry on smartly...plebes.

That's what Reno and Clinton won in Waco. A serious reminder not to challenge the belief in their supremacy. Based on periodic reminders like hat, we all implicitly consent to all kinds of tyranny all the time because we believe that Leviathan will kill us dead as hell at the drop of a hat if they take a notion to it. We rightly fear that, so we all go about our daily lives consenting to all manner of tyrannies, big and small, because we all inherently seek to stay off their radar and be as anonymous as possible, because we see what happens when they choose to notice someone, and it never ends well for that someone.

No, you don't have to consent to tyranny, but you do need to understand the cost of resistance.

A Free Press is a vital instrument in preventing a takeover by a tyrannical government. Right now I'm seeing that fundamental right under constant attack. When the Free Press goes away, the rest of your rights will follow.

How could this be happening?!
Wait I have a solution; we'll have the govt own the airwaves and set requirements for who can use them. That will certainly free things up.

That is what trump is trying to do. Since trump can't, he is trying to get our citizens to believe it is "fake."
