American vs Obama
Just insert the POTUS of the day, they all fit, because it is the direction in which the u.s. is going. People are like, stop doing the comparisons ... how can we not?
New boss, just like the old boss ... rinse and repeat until we're done.

Your summation(s) are a little too general for me...
Maybe because I think a closer look always begins to better distinguish important differences between one POTUS vs others even if they all might include aspects of "good, bad and ugly." They are all quite notably different in all three categories.
Back to and/or with more in regard to the title of this thread, I don't ever recall Clinton, Bush (Sr or Jr) or Obama criticized like Trump for being antiSemetic, and justifiably so. Don't recall all the comparisons to Hitler or Nazi Germany either, and also for obvious reasons.
There are significant differences, and they are always important to note. Important to call out, no matter the POTUS, but in this respect Trump is unique from past presidents too. When before was any POTUS able to make fake news and alternative truths what they have become today? Acceptable! Instantly so prevalent? To the point where no insult, misrepresentation and/or flat out lie is considered unacceptable? Makes no difference. The new normal.
As to the history and how we got to the point where someone like Trump could become POTUS, maybe this helps to explain at least in part...
Has the U.S. motto become ‘In Nothing We Trust’?
