The AR15 mirrors the M16, was the M16 a combat rifle.

Appearance and function are two different things.

Actually, the Constitution does say that......

And just because the courts have permitted infringements for certain types of weapons doesn't change that.

Normal citizens owned all manner of arms when the Constitution was written..... including artillery and battle ships.

And semi automatic weapons predate the Constitution by 90 years.....

So you can save the whole "but the founders couldn't imagine semi automatic weapons" schtick.

Ummmmm ..

Maybe because much of the US doesn't want anything to do with your idea of "universal healthcare and gun control" and we have a Constitutional Representative government that prevents a tyrannical government from shoving them down our throats?

Just food for thought......

Poll: Majority Favor Gun Control

Our laws aren't written by poll results.

That's the difference between the Constitutional Republic that we have and the "DEMOCRACY". the Left seems so keen to cry about.

V6 Mustang looks almost identical to the V8 GT Mustang.

Doesn't mean they drive the same.

Same with the AR-15 and M-16

Exactly...... I can paint my car bright red, put decals, ground effects, and a number on it but that doesn't make it a race car.

Why do gun folks keep fighting this fight, it's a road to nowhere, or worse, disaster. Claiming that the fact that the weapon that shoots the exact same round, with the same lethality, with the same capacity and can be converted with a pretty cheap part to functionally the equivalent as it's "military" counterpart is somehow the same as getting fake boobs or painting a car is about a false equivalence as you can get and doesn't help to frame the argument. I get that it's easier to argue semantics, but guaranteed that this approach will backfire. Just like whining on about gun grabbers focusing on "cosmetics", well guess what, now the legislation they are trying to pass focuses less on cosmetics and targets the action and form (e.g. semi auto magazine fed rifles). Guess pro gunners won that war, they stopped focusing on cosmetics

No idea what you mean but if an M16 is a combat rifle so is the AR15.
