You're the only saying it is and it's dishonest to say so.

It is used to fill in the gaps. Not to partially fill in the gap. Why don't you explain to everyone here why increasing the amount of food stamps isn't the way to go and creating more government in order to give away free lunches which takes responsibility away from parents is the thing to do.

Go ahead, I'll be waiting.

"Look here, look, look", isn't a response.

You need to read up on the sexual abuse of kids in the care of the Great state of Texas. I'm referring to plain ol common foster care, not illegals or asylum seekers. What the CPS services has allowed is an ongoing scandal.

As a foster parent when we were younger, IMO, birth control should be put in the drinking water of all people who are not married. or not high school graduates.

We had one baby whose fully grown mother abandoned him with a babysitter. She was pregnant with her 5th. child by the 5th father. She just didn't want the baby we had because she didn't like the father. But she would not sign the papers for that blonde haired blue eyed boy to be adopted. She would see him for 15 minutes at a time a couple times a year. The state of Missouri could not declare him abandoned. The state should have tied her tubes.

If you are old enough to multiply you should be able to add.

How dare those hungry children exist!

What do you propose to do about the ones that are already here? Let them starve because they lost the parent lottery? I guess if you win it, you think you deserve it.

I can't fathom punishing children for the sins of their parents. But I think that's biblical, if I recall correctly. Seven generations, right?

Sorry for the tone, but I work with these hungry children, so I know for a fact that they exist.

When people, and schools, are offered stuff for free, it's hard to blame them for taking it. My problem is with the federal government continuing to take tax money from people in places like Arizona or Maine and using it to provide free food for two years to my kids. We CHOSE to move to a place where hurricanes are pretty much guaranteed, so it's my belief that since we CHOSE to take that risk people in other places shouldn't be on the hook for my CHOICE to take that risk.

Obviously, this isn't something that is going to be unique. I'd bet good money the federal government gives away billions upon billions of dollar via such programs.

BTW, no, my kids are not eating the free lunches, we pack lunches for them each day.
If you can’t feed them, don’t breed them.

Our government does the same thing with illegal aliens by allowing their kids to attend our schools and other incentives to come here illegally. The Democrats in congress are encouraging the lazy to remain so with their socialistic agendas also. Stop enabling them!
+1.

I got hit up yesterday by a young adult offering "his grandmother's stamps" in exchange for cash at the grocery store. The whole system is screwed.

You have it backwards.

The reason why 99% of posters of C-D are morons is because they went to government schools.

If my kid forgot their lunch, I did a thing called "parenting" and brought it to school but mostly I made sure they brought it in the am. Another parenting trick.

And you committed fraud to get your kids a free lunch.???? LOL. Seriously? You couldn't swing a few dollars? So you purposely let your kid eat a FREE "nasty lunch"? WOW.
Yes on the bold. The nasty lunch is their punishment for forgetting the pack or take the lunch lol (usually they pack it and forget it in the fridge).

I'm not a helicopter, babying, save-the-day all the time sort of parent like you may be based on the above and don't bring my kids anything they forget. It's about teaching them to be responsible for themselves (a better parenting trick than "saving" them all the time).

ETA: And it is common for parents to commit fraud on the forms lol. The schools don't check the forms. You give people a way to take advantage of you with no consequences (like if they forget their lunch - you bring it to them every time they forget) then they will continue to take advantage of you. It's human nature.

That's probably why I get a lot of compliments on how "independent" they are - especially my teen. We don't do all that nansy-pansy hand holding parents like to do today who have grown kids living off of them. I work all day and am not going to go out of my way to take my kid a lunch when I have s**t to do at work.

And I can afford the lunch, I'm just not going to pay for it. I own multiple properties in my area and pay a boatload of taxes that support our schools so if my kid needs a lunch or breakfast (cause I don't make them breakfast either after a certain age) then I don't feel any negative kind of way for my kid eating a $1 bagged, disgusting meal. Usually when that happens, they remember to take their lunch for another month or two before they forget again.

So 2+2=4 is a government conspiracy? Gravity isn’t real and the Mars revolves around Pluto?

For real though, I criticized many aspects of the Government. I was in high school. Like the war in Iraq. In fact, my dad was military and he’d get mad when Id tell him we should not be over-there.

He eventually admitted it was a mistake to invade Iraq(he was a corpsman).

Tou can take the education and run with it and form your own thoughts.

I even had teachers who criticized the news and government. Especially one that had a couple of students who ended up going to Iraq. She told the class how resentful she was about it towards the president as she felt we should not be there.
