Do you, or do you not, believe that taxation is theft? If not, why?

Do I believe that all taxation is theft?

No.

There are legitimate, Constitutional functions of government that have to be funded in order to be exercised.

Any taxation beyond what is necessary for that is indeed tantamount to theft.

Government has no legitimate function, Constitution or not.

“But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case it is unfit to exist.”

People that start working for the first time in their lives are outraged that they must pay taxes do not realize we 46% have been paying their bill all along
We don’t need welfare and illegal immigration we need for everybody here to pay their fair share
We don’t need a volunteer army we need a draft

No, taxation is not theft. The squandering, and waste of tax money is theft. This is why big government is wrong.

If you hate taxes so much, you should be happy that 47% do not pay any Federal income tax. However, any one who is working and earning W-2 wages are paying taxes.

State income taxes (in states that have them)
FICA taxes (social security and Medicare)
Local and.or county income taxes (in jurisdictions that have them)

A quick example for someone earning min wage in CT which is 10.10 an hour

Number based on a 40 hour week 52 weeks a year
(CT doesn't have income taxes at local or county levels)

Yearly income - $21,008
Ct income tax - $180 (includes 15k exemption)
Social security - $1,302
Medicare - $304
Total = $1,787 for an effective rate of 8.5%

For comparison Mitt Romney paid an effective rate of 13.6% in Federal income tax and hes a millionaire.
He also would have stopped paying into social security once he hit about 125k in W-2 wages. I'm sure a guy like Mitt can afford good CPA's and attorneys though to get around the SS contribution.

Taxes: the cost of living in a civilized society.

Death and taxes: the two things no one can avoid.

Sadly, even the guardian angel of the Republican Party, Ronald Reagan started the myth that Government Is the Problem. Shame on him. The Republican party has followed this mantra into near anarchy, but I do have hope that the GOP is quite near it's death which will require transformation.

All government is wrong.

What gives you, or anyone else, the right to the fruits of my labor?
