But the recession has yet to materialize and the media keeps repeating the same thing over and over the last 5 years while the stock market keeps riding new highs even after a few correction on the way.

The same media keeps saying the tariffs will bring our economy to its knees but consumer sentiments and spending still very high. The tariffs has been nothing but a bluff to get China to the bargaining tables.

Unemployment at 48 year lows sitting at 3.8%

The media really out of touch with this country.

I remember in 2016 this woman at work says she's dumping all the stocks in her portfolio now that Trump is president that he'll start the recession in this country. If she didn't sell and bought like I did. She would've made out huge.

What's the deal with making this a partisan issue?

Forecasts of a recession doesn't mean it's happening this year. It will likely hit us in 12 - 15 months.

Read up on the reasons they're saying this instead of just dismissing it.

Then there is this:

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. job market isn’t quite as strong as originally believed — with revised figures showing that the economy had 501,000 fewer total jobs this March than initially reported.

The Labor Department says that nearly two-thirds of the downward revision came from the retail and leisure and hospitality sectors, the industries most associated with consumer spending.

Retailers had 146,400 fewer jobs, while leisure and hospitality — which includes hotels and restaurants — had 175,000 fewer workers.

Business services, health care, construction and manufacturing were also lower than first reported.

This was the sharpest downward revision in jobs totals since 2009, when the economy was just starting to emerge from the Great Recession.

When is the last time australia had a recession? 30 years ago almost.

The job of fed monetary and government fiscal policy should be to prevent recessions - not recover from them. This idea that we should have a one every 8 years as part of a healthy cycle is insanity.

I know people who moved all their retirement savings into fixed income years ago because they "knew" the next reccision was coming very soon. They've lost out on hundreds of thousands in gains.

They are pushing a self fulfilling prophecy in hopes that it will happen and they can blame Trump.

And at the expense of all of us. IMHO politics is getting more corrupt each year.

All media, right or left, have talked about a possible recession. It takes but a couple of minutes to confirm that.

The media didn’t start talking about it until the bad financial news. Why does everything have to be a conspiracy?

Conservatives have to make everything into a conspiracy in which they are the victims of the big bad evil liberals.

I agree on one thing. We all are going to have to suffer, possibly worse than in 2008-2012. However, it's not the fault of the liberal media or even circumstances. This is 100% the fault of Donald Trump.
