You don't make political calculations with the 25th. You do it because the president is incapacitated and its the right thing to do.
Pence is quite beatable in a general election. His over-the-top evangelical Christian actions and beliefs do not play well among independents and the swing states.

The only unhinged people I see are presstitutes and mainstream media hacks who can't believe Trump has withstood all of their attacks over three years. They are used to Repubs kowtowing to them.

These are the ravings of a madman. The 25th Amendment addresses the case of an incapacitated president and sets the guidelines for the Vice President to take over. It would seem that time is now.
I've never thought highly of Trump, but this past week he really seems to be in a bad mental state. I hate Pence with a passion, but I am suspecting something's definitely wrong with Trump at this point (Alzheimer's, a stroke, I don't know), and Pence needs to step up. I may not like Pence, but at least he does seem to have control of his mental facilities.
