I'm betting he gets paid for honorariums at various prestigious educational institutions across the US and perhaps throughout the world. Obama could very well pull in $500K for a half hour discussion at say Berkeley or Stanford, on how the white man kept the blacks down throughout history and how he was able to overcame all that.
What a clown world we're living in.
Oprah Winfrey = Richest woman in America
Barack Obama = elected president twice, retires to a $13 million estate
Asian Americans = currently the wealthiest racial group in U.S. (based on yearly avg income)
President Trump became wealthy long before he became President, by way of successful business adventures, development, management, investments, etc.
Obama became wealthy during but primarily after being the POTUS.
And the small matter that Trump inherited 400 million from his father. Not to mention he got into college because of his dad. Oh and his dad and his connections started his real estate business. Yep Donnie did it all on his own.
That's still not enough to afford over 20 million in homes. Are they over extending themselves like they told others not to do? I bet it's more than likely they got sweetheart deals like nobody else could get. That half white privilege is working nice for him eh?
So you admit it, Obamas are honest, and Trump is doing it on the sly?
Jokes aside, did Obama really tell people to lower their standard of living? Got a clip of that? I recall him wanting to make common sense environmental rules, but never (like AOC) telling people they need to downsize.
Trump, OTOH, is actively trying to lower the standard of living for the vast majority of Americans to support his, and his croanie friends lavish lifestyle. It's one of the few things he's not overly loud and boastful about, which is surpising because it's also one of the very few things he's succeeding at...
There is no need to post anything. If you were honest and you actually listened to what the man said in his speeches you'd know it's true. He railed against the 1%, the "fat cats" and said Americans need to lower their standards while others around the world are lifted up. Go research it.
Got to strike while the iron is hot. Obama was a popular President.
The longer he's out of office the less he can command.
I don't begrudge him. I think it's a very smart move on their part. They should rake it in while they can. Then invest all that money and never need to worry about work again.
Considering they are both very well educated it is no surprise they will take advantage of any opportunities which come their way.
What this tells me is that they are shrewd negotiators and maximized their opportunities. Somehow this is perceived as 'good' when people attribute that to Trump but 'bad' when they attribute that to Obama. Stone cold hypocrisy.
What this criticism suggests, of course, is that when someone is well educated with money making opportunities they are expected to stop caring about the world around them, their neighbors, friends and fellow citizens. Nothing could be further from the truth. People can be well off, bright and successful, and also care.
The problem with all of this is that it ruins their critics deliberately false narrative of Barack Obama being a 'socialist'. He is no more a socialist than most Americans. We have had a mixed economy since our nation's founding and Mr Obama, like almost all of us, likes it that way.
