I am extremely opposed to any and every drug law where people voluntarily exchange with each other and where they choose to engage in or not engage in the activity of voluntarily taking drugs. HOWEVER... we have existing law on the books that prohibits many such things (malum prohibitum crime laws which I fully oppose) and until those laws are changed or repealed, the President and the Executive branch have the constitutional authority to enforce those existing laws.
I want ALL drug laws repealed. I want ALL gun laws repealed (except that one cannot posses a firearm while they are incarcerated for committing a malum in se crime against another) because I believe them to be unconstitutional. I believe EVERY malum prohibitum law is unconstitutional because it infringes upon an individual's natural right to free choice, free will. As long as what they do or don't do doesn't encroach upon the rights or property of another, no one should have any say in what an individual chooses to do. THAT is my utopia... but just because I don't agree with many/most existing laws does NOT mean I can willfully violate them without expecting the consequences associated with violating that law.
Change the existing laws. Repeal any and all malum prohibitum crime laws. Until then, expect to obey those laws or be punished if you are caught violating them.
I agree with you on everything--except for the fact that man-made laws are invalid. The only reason we follow them is because of the threat of State violence.
And when do we take what he says as serious or as policy?
Trump and his fans are using this tactic of saying he's trolling, he's just grandstanding, blah blah -- as a way of defending Trump's erratic and chaotic approach to serious policies of international trade, foreign diplomacy, immigration etc.
So now we have a President who has no credibility in anything he says.
Is he testing waters, having a tantrum, just sounding off, trolling, who knows?
And the fact some folks defend that kind of irrational approach to serious policies and governing this country is fascinating
Hard to say why he tweeted that. My guess is he is trying to scare China to the table. He has no power to order companies to come back here.
There is another thread around here about Trump going off the rails, and I think this tweet of his is another nail in his coffin. The guy has lost it. He cannot order US companies to do anything. He seems to think he is the king or something. Delusional is what he is. He has lost it.

So we agree in principle except to the point that I believe that until the malum prohibitum crime laws are repealed, we have no right to demand we are not prosecuted and held criminally liable if we intentionally violate those laws.
With the order in his tweet, President Trump signaled to both private business carriers and the USPS that import from foreign nations to tighten down on their own screening practices or face having the international import side of their business come to either a screeching halt or at least a crawl while federal officials open and screen each and every package that is shipped from foreign nations. President Trump, just like any other President would, has the authority to make that a reality.
I think he only wants American companies to come together and support America. (a lot of power there)
If people want to continue supporting a country that freely admits that they steel American IP's (as well as other countries).
If people want to continue supporting a country who's actions are equal to the drug loads of South America.
Then go ahead and tell us how bad Trump is.
