She needs to hang in there for another 6 months and then the GOP will have their hands tied. Since Mitch McConnell blocked Obama from electing Garland since it was an election year, as a man of integrity, I'm sure McConnell would also block Trump from nominating a replacement. /sarcasm.
That only applies at the end of a second presidential term.

The only hypocrisy we'll see on this issue will be from Dems, who screamed and howled that Barack Obama, as the sitting president, had the right to fill the Supreme Court vacancy. Watch them now say that Donald Trump shouldn't enjoy a similar "right."

As for the GOP, it was clear that Mitch said the next president should fill. We knew that there would be a new president as Obama was term limited and a lame duck. The same does not apply with an incumbent president running for reelection.

Note, even if you don't buy into this narrative and claim that Mitch McConnell is being hypocritical, you can't sit here with a straight face and not make the same argument for the Democrats.

No, the "Biden Rule" that was cited over and over again by the GOP back in 2016 was from a speech that then-Senator Biden made in 1992. Who was President in '92 and was it his first or second term?

Well, you probably need to start thinking of this as "The McConnell Rule," then. And that rule only applies at the end of a second presidential term, when we are certain to have a new president.

That's not what McConnell and other GOP members of Congress said in the moment to bolster their argument, however.

They don't get to have it both ways.

Sure they do, they control the senate and the senate confirms SCOTUS nominations. They can and will confirm Trump's replacement for RBG because they can.

This is exactly why we elected Trump, you lost.

DR's can inject the blood of 19 year old virgins into RBG every day she's still on borrowed time. I'm a nurse and a person in their 80's doesn't survive Pancreatic cancer and Liver cancer. That means it's spread to all the internal organs. They are both circulatory organs... google that. In the statement they said they didn't even try chemo which is smart for a geriatric. I'm sure she's fighting for all she's worth but Cancer will win.

Exactly. Anyone who believes that this 80 year old woman has now beat pancreatic cancer twice and is disease free needs mental help. You don't beat pancreatic or esophageal cancers, you might slow them down or you might postpone the inevitable but she's on borrowed time.
