No, it's the other way round. The number has almost doubled from 2018 to 2019, and it has not been that high since 2013.

It is not the forest that is burning. The agricultural fields, they grow crops on are set a fire on purpose. They burn them off every year, to ready the soil for plowing and seeding. Just like they do in Mexico every year.
