Democrats are knowledgeable enough to know that Greenland isn't for sale. Wanting to buy something that isn't for sale isn't a good idea, it's idiotic.

Not only is Greenland not for sale and absurd to believe that Denmark can sell it, where would U.S. get the money.

We're running a trillion dollar annual deficit and you can't buy other countries with Russian-laundered money.

Can you?

In any event, he has left such a bad taste in their mouths about the US that it will be another 70 years before we can approach them again. By that time the ice will have all melted and it will be worth a lot more.
However as long as there are no reasons for the Greenlanders to sell off their land to the US there will be no deal. For those of Greenland they give up their healthcare and semi rule to join a place that they get much less say on their political future, lose both of the languages and get next to nothing in return is a bad deal. It doesn't matter how great Trump and his supporters think it is or how dumb if an idea that the Democrats think the idea is, in the end unless the Greenlanders wish to become second class citizens of the States thete will be no deal.

The past is the past, we no longer accept and do so many things that were considered ok in the past. We no longer accept cannibalism, polygamy, etc., either.

A main difference to Alaska is that Alaska was just a small part of Russia, whereas Greenland is much bigger than Denmark, and in addition to that an independent country within the kingdom of Denmark. Not unlike Scotland within UK. London can't sell Scotland, either.

I think Trump has no idea how unpopular he is in Europe. He is the epitome of the ugly American.
If Greenland allows the Chinese in, it is their business and theirs alone.

Greenland has been wanting to leave Denmark for a few years now. There might be a referendum soon to become part of the US. Stay tuned.

Here's an idea-- trade Puerto Rico for Greenland!

What if Greenland becomes an independent county, for real? What then?

If Greenland wanted to join any country, it would be Canada, whose Arctic has a lot in common with it, whose healthcare system is similar, and which gives indigenous peoples real rights.

The USA?

Not so much so.

I wouldn't blame Greenland. Honestly, I see Greenland becoming an independent country rather than becoming part of the USA. It's not like Greenlandic people are clamoring to be part of the USA. It's Trump and his minions that want it.
