Once you unlock the box of "public funded charity" all sorts of demons leap out.
Because the secret rule of all government is to find ever more things to spend taxpayer monies on, to justify demanding more taxes and growing larger.
No government wants status quo or (shudder) downsizing.

In a World we have years long wait for people with severe disability looking for medical help, housing help just to survive and hundreds of thousands of people who sleep in our streets that anyone would support things like this is shameful.
