Trump is a Republican puppet. Just look at the tax cut. He rubber stamps whatever comes out of there. He will do the same to Medicare SS cuts. He is probably not dumb enough to campaign on that though

Cutting medicare and SS is political suicide. Even the whiff of it will be enough to not get him reelected. There are 50 million voters on SS.

Why doesn't anyone focus on the out of control COSTS of "healthcare" in the United States?

Why isn't there any talk of cutting Medicaid. Our country spends more for welfare medical costs that it does for retiree medical. Seems as if Medicaid should be the first thing to go.

It will happen. The ruling donor class want an end to SS and Medicare as they have no need for it. They have already packed the courts and own 95% of Congress and own the media. As long as people refuse to fight to get big money out of politics and refuse to find the guts to strengthen labor unions, then the billionaire class will get what they want. Money rules.

If you were born disabled and couldnt work and reliant on Medicaid for your health and survival, I think you'd sing another tune. Dont you think so too?

That pension system has been significantly whittled down, while there are still some under the old system, the bulk of federal pension money for those retiring in the near future is in the exact same form as other employees - self-funded 401K with a small percentage of matching contributions and the like. In other words, the funding ends on the person’s retirement. As the Greatest Generation, and a few straggler years younger, dies off so will much of the pension liability, no other generation will retire in as sweet of a position as they have. Additionally, starting with mid-to-late baby boomers people will have paid more into Social Security than they will withdraw.

Are you suggesting that we get rid of military pensions and disabled veteran’s pensions? My husband’s body was maimed serving this nation and now you want to renege on the contract the government signed with him after he has fulfilled his end of the bargain? How nice.

Haven't they gone away for the most part.

Except for unions, are companies handing out pensions anymore?

So if someone who is sick and has no money, no income, should just die? I thought the right believed life is precious with their right-to-life mantra.

The people who will lose out -- and should lose out - with Social Security are the rich. SS shouldn't be cut for the poorest people. It should be cut for the people who get on cruise ships and live the great life in the golden years - and still collect full benefits. SS taxes are also going to have to be raised.

Sorry folks - there's no free lunch.
