So, let me get this right.

The GOP has picked up the Russian Fiction Writer as a GOD...to the point that even the Speaker of the House forces all of his office mates to read her fiction.......

BUT, you are telling us that the GOP are actually liberals because of this???

This only makes sense in one small facet.....that they are "selfish" in the model of the Russian Fiction Writer.

In the Liberal American view, "John Galt" is obviously the many Billionaires who actually created stuff (Buffet, Gates, Google Guys, Jobs, etc....no, not Casino or Pork producers) and who NOW have pledged most or all of their Billion to be given away to the society they love.

That differs vastly....I think....from how "conservatives" grabbed the Fiction Writer and only think it means they are great.

"John Galt is a hero representing the best of modern civilization — its science, its medical research, its technological progress, and its application of intellect in service to human life"

Sounds like liberals in Silicon Valley, Boston and the like. But sounds like the opposite of modern "conservatives" --- 6% of scientists ID as Republican, and many very wealthy Republicans spend all their time making sure THEY don't pay any more taxes and that they keep as much as possible (The Waltons, for example, are responsible for doing away with and/or lowering the Estate Tax).

We are living in backwards world. Republicans take some talking points and then somehow turn every one to "Greed is Good?

If you are going to demonize a person or company for doing business with Stalin or Hitler and later regretting it, you’ll have a long list. How about Volkswagen? Ford Motor Company built trucks for Stalin. Charles Lindbergh was an early supporter of the Nazis. Many American companies did business with Hitler (Kodak, Standard Oil, Chase Bank, etc.)

While this is true, the Kochs are unique in their Globalism because at the time they didn't have a big empire in the USA.....it wasn't like Ford who had the stuff there before Hitler came to Power.

The Kochs are pretty much anti-American. They even started a pro-immigration group recently. Not to say that in itself is anti-American, but their reasoning is...they desire the ability to suck human and natural resources from everywhere and anywhere without paying their dues.

Prior to WW2 any number of US families had some sort of dealings with Germany and Russia either selling them stuff, buying stuff from them and so on and so forth.

If not them, then Japan or a host of other countries.

Basically, the OP's thesis is at least 2 if not 3 layers deep in hackneyed internet meme stupidity.

Anyone disagreeing with me on this....is worse than Hitler.

Well.....I guess I am worse......

Let's accept that building industrial capacity for Germany and Russia was not evil at that time in history.....

Go back...my son! Kochs are German. I can't imagine any time in that period where Good Germans would want Russia to have vastly more industrial capacities. In my reading of history, the "civilized" Germans feared - and maybe rightfully so, the "Barbarians" to their East. That alone would make perhaps helping Germany "patriotic", while helping Stalin the opposite....

But that said, we still have to focus on actually WHO the Kochs are and what formed them and their worldview. Both young Koch boys were brought up - raised - by a German nanny who adored Hitler and the "German Way"...this was their childhood!
https://spitfirelist.com/news/enema-...ys-nazi-nanny/

"Dressed in a starched white uni*form and point*ed nurse’s hat, she arrived with a stash of grue*some Ger*man chil*dren’s books, includ*ing the Vic*to*ri*an clas*sic Der Struwwelpeter, that fea*tured sadis*tic con*se*quences for mis*be*hav*ior, rang*ing from cut*ting off of one child’s thumbs to burn*ing anoth*er to death. The acquain*tance recalled that the nurse had a com*men*su*rate*ly harsh and dic*ta*to*r*i*al approach to child rear*ing. She enforced a rigid toi*let-train*ing reg*i*men requir*ing the boys to pro*duce morn*ing bow*el move*ments pre*cise*ly on sched*ule or be force-fed cas*tor oil and sub*ject*ed to ene*mas"

Surely you and others know that children subjected to such are more "conservative" in their approach to life than those brought up normally. We had an Irish au pair and I can state with confidence that she never forced us to have bowel movements on time.

The point is these are very interesting people....and too act as if they somehow became Americans in the traditional sense (liberal, compassionate, down-home, informal and democratic) is fantastic given what they worked for their entire lives.

So while I will give them a pass on the German refineries....I think their family history bears looking at when one considers they are almost singularly responsible for the rise of the American Right (John Birch, GOP in power through billions and think tanks, etc.).
