That's the true narrative but right wing media has completely distorted where the control really lies, and people on this forum spew it in the form of "the government is responsible for all evils" rhetoric. Yes I know, it's the government who put that wealth into those few peoples hands, in the lovely natural free market, that would never have happened.

There's nothing to love about giant bureaucracies but the vitriol against the government is so disproportionate to that levied against big corps, it makes one wonder what the hell people are even looking at and observing.
There is a huge difference between government and business. You can very easily boycott or ignore a corporation, and get their products or services elsewhere. There is no competition for the government that we can go to instead. You cant just be done with the government overnight, whereas you can be done with Amazon or whoever at the drop of a hat in most cases. Government is forced upon you, commerce for the most part is a choice.

More companies should do that.
And a less stressed society is more well off.

We’re observing that the more power the government has, the more it’s sold off to private interests.

If you were in a house with multiple people, gave one of them a gun in hopes that they would “run the household” the way you want it run, and the person ended up using that power to benefit themselves and their buddies, who would you primarily blame?

Everyone involved in the corruption is to blame, but the guy’s friends aren’t the root of the problem.

Mandates for public SOCIALIZED education, in the US, date back to 1635.

Federal Flood insurance SOCIALIZES the cost of flood benefits, regardless of where you live.

With one exception, all states mandate a minimum of auto liability insurance which SOCIALIZES risks.

Old Age Income Insurance, Social Security, is 85 years old and was initially decried as SOCIALISM.

Disability Insurance, Social Security, is 64 years old and SOCIALIZES the cost of disability income.

Old Age Hospitalization Insurance and related services is 54 years old and was initially decried as SOCIALISM.

Medicaid, Part D, prescription medications was originally proposed by the Clinton Admin was decried as SOCIALIZED medicine and did not gain traction in Congress until the Bush 2 Administration and became law 16 years ago.

Those cute old geezers in Surprise Arizona, with tea bags dangling from their caps, advocating for the Tea Party, made clear they were talking about cutting other people’s social welfare, not Social Security and Medicaid.

Our "Greatness" ended largely with the Vietnam War and the bills that came due. But just in case it didn't take, the powers-that-be spent Trillions more on war and other stuff.

When young people, travel abroad or use the googlemachine to look up other countries to see how much better our lives are... sure, why not, they want Socialism to!

They can't understand why Republicans are crying about Socialism, when most other 1st world countries are doing so much better, living longer, healthier, happier, more job security and worker rights.

That sounds GREAT.. compared to what the Republicans want.

Get fired for no reason, loose your healthcare if fired, pay triple in drug prices, go bankrupt because you get a disease or injury.... Republican Nirvana.
How about you and some of your fellow travelers chip in and buy your own continent and run things your way.

I, like most Americans will opt out.

I have far more faith is the Boomlets than I do spoiled Millenials. My kids are Millenials, all of their friends are as well. They are nothing like we Yuppies who partied hard and worked even harder.

You mean millenials within your radius and not the various millenials that live in different walks of life?
