"Unite the Right was explicitly organized and branded as a far-right, racist, and white supremacist event by far-right racist white supremacists. This was clear for months before the march actually occurred. So by casting the rally instead as a sort of spontaneous outpouring from Confederate statue enthusiasts, Trump is rewriting history."
Wow...Ö...if I believe this reporting, which is a big if, my only questions are about the incompetence of the Charlottesville govt and law enforcement, not what the Pres did or didn't say.

Interesting that no one here spouting a leftist point of view has even mentioned Antifa's role in all this.

The hypocrisy is staggering.

I have been looking for something like this. The narrator of the above video is CNN political analyst Steve Cortes. It's longer than necessary, but well done, complete with amusing cartoons. You can get the gist by watching from @1:35 through about 2:45. Or by reading the below snippet. Quoting Cortes:

Please post a link to this thread whenever a poster tries to spread this provably inaccurate meme about Trump and Charlottesville. Or when Joe Biden uses the meme/lie in one of his ads, as he already has.
You think a political whitewash job somehow absolves Trump of his comments???

You haven't "proved" anything.....

If you Trump true believers get worked up about supposed "lies" told by Biden and his campaign how do you handle the fact that the only time Trump isn't lying is when his mouth isn't moving...

When given a chance to correct, back down from the implication that the white supremacist groups were 'fine people', Trump refused.

The optics were horrible.

A good leader, President, would be able in that case to declare his concern for all parties that were victims of violence, support the love of a statue, and condemn white supremacists. He couldn't do it because he was afraid to lose the alt. right.
“I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and white nationalists because they should be condemned totally.”

Now that is a lie... Please provide a link where Trump says "white supremacist group included very fine people."
He never did . He said that there were fine people on both sides of the protest. Not everyone or even most were members of any white supremist group.

This is why the hard left has 0 credibility. Trump is bad enough that there is absolutely no reason to fabricate, make things up or lie. Yet the left insists upon doing it.

You lose all credibility and undermine your own position when you have to exaggerate or lie to make a point.

"White supremacist" is mostly a hoax. Even among nationalist and separatist they're probably just trying to remain and conserve the culture and don't seem to consider themselves supremacists.

It would be akin to demanding over and over for the President to condemn those on the left for communism and fascism, labels of an identification the left don't even use or accept. The Left gets it win just by getting the right to accept labels and condemn them.

Exactly which of the white nationalists chanting "Jews will not replace us" were there to save the statue of Robert E. Lee from being moved?
