Who are you kidding? Havent you said that the US economy is on fire and doing better than anytime in the last 50 years?

Trump has said himself that the goal of the trade war is to prevent China from surpassing US GDP. Thats why Trump is advocating manufacturing to move to countries with worse labor standards and IP protection than China. Thats the workers Trump thinks you should compete with. The trade war is not about what you think it is. This means China has to deliberately stay poor for a deal to be made. Do you think any country would accept that?

That's the real head-shaker here. The complaints of trade with China have been bi-partisan with both Bush and Obama making such comments. Currency manipulation, corporate espionage and a host of copyright and other patent abuses.

China knows exactly what they need to do to resolve the dispute. They either need to do it or prepare for a military escalation.

Oh sure; get the world embroiled in another war over an issue created by your own companies selling out to China to make a buck …... including your dear leader before he was your "chosen one".

Will you put on your military boots? Or will you send your kids to the front?

Chinese Vice Premier Liu ...

This statement is likely to be misinterpreted in the same way that the USA misinterprets a lot of things.

For example, North Korea and the USA disagree with what denuclearization of the peninsula means, and they keep shooting off missiles, but that hasn't prevented Trump from falling in love with a brutally murderous dictator and claiming we don't have a problem there.

The Chinese did not start this tit for tat. Trump has gotten himself in a political mess here at home with his wild and ill conceived trade maneuvers and his flip-flopping. The business community can't plan in an environment like this.

The Chinese have thrown him a bone to gnaw on, he grabbed it and is going to do everything he can to spin it into something that might reverse his falling poll numbers.

Trump is Mr. 'I don't listen to subject matter experts', Mr. "who Knew it could be so complicated?", Mr. 'man without a plan'. Mister Chaos.

Thats why Trump is advocating that businesses move to countries like Bangladesh and Vietnam right? No currency manipulation or copyright and patent abuses there, lol. And the American worker can then compete with workers who make 1/5th of what the typical Chinese worker makes.

”You can say we’re having very meaningful talks, much more meaningful than I would say at any time frankly,” Trump said while meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday. “Maybe I’m wrong but we’re in a stronger position now to do a deal, a fair deal for everyone,” he added.

Still, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry wasn’t able to immediately confirm the details of the phone calls on Monday. Later, Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of China’s Global Times newspaper, said in a tweet that top trade negotiators hadn’t spoken by phone in recent days and that Trump was exaggerating the significance of the trade contacts.

Trump later, at a separate bilateral meeting, insisted that calls were had at the highest level and was not aware that China was disputing them.

Trump lied.

If Trump doesn't win a second term, China will simply go back to screwing the US over 100 different ways. Yet another reason to make sure some worthless globalist/statist like Biden or Warren doesn't win the White House in 2020.

The Chinese have done this before. They say, Let's talk, then they sit down with the same demands as before. As my ma used to say, the proof is in the puddin'.
