OP must have turned on his/her selective memory and erased the $15,000,000,000 bailout to save thousands of mid-western farmers. A bailout paid for by American taxpayers.

OP must've already erased that part of Trump's (failed) trade war from their memory.

Short-term sacrifice for long-term gain.
We knew that would be part of trade warfare.

US has collected $63 billion in tariffs fiscal YTD. After the payout to farmers there’s over $45 billion left. We need to reduce our damn budget deficits though

The Left hates it when things go well for Trump and the country.

Libs, being anti-American, wanted to continue to let the Chinese cheat on trade, patents, and their currency.

Doing nothing has already greatly harmed the US economy and many US industries. Bill Clinton was bought and sold by the Chinese, starting the disaster, then it was kicked down the road by Bush and Obama.

Thank God Trump is addressing this situation, as career Washington politicians would continue to do nothing. Biden and his son make millions off the Chinese banking deals they have swung, so look for Joe to be very pro-China.

Counter arguments to what? You haven't presented any arguments to counter.

Just name one society that has survived socialism, open borders and uncontrolled immigration.

Trump in press conference confirms he feels good about the Vice Premier's statement that he wants to negotiate 'calmly' -- that's all.

There was no call.

Trump saw the Vice-Premier's statement.

Trump has clearly said that the goal of the trade war is to prevent China from surpassing US GDP, which means China MUST deliberately stay poor in order to reach a deal. Thats why Trump is advocating for manufacturing to move to countries with worse labor rights. lower wages and worse IP protection than China. Its not to protect the American worker or IP rights.

No country will accept a deal that forces the country to stay poor. Other developed countries have a trade surplus with China and no trade war or massive tariffs. Perhaps you should look at other factors for the destruction of the working class. You clearly think that the American economy is "crushed" so I assume you think the unemployment figures are also fake news?
What a ridiculous claim, and even more absurd argument in basing the GDP per capita, given the massive population of China. It’s like claiming diamonds worthless given the amount of surrounding coal.

What the GDP Per Capita figure illustrates is what knowledgeable people already understand ... China is a communist totalitarian state where the vast percentage of its population have been enslaved by elite members of the communist party, whose rise in economic and military power has rapidly elevated it to virtual super power status. Their long term strategic goal is total Chinese hegemony, and they are not far off that goal, should the status quo be maintained.

Hong Kong is a picture perfect example, as is China’s construction and militarization of artificial Islands erected in the South China Sea, and their lawless claim of sovereignty covering that entire sea area where a majority of international commercial shipping occurs.

China is a world nuclear power with the largest standing army on earth, and a rapidly growing naval force with global reach. Comparing China to Mexico is an absurdity in the extreme.

The point of other countries having a trade surplus with China is totally irrelevant, and has no meaning to this discussion. The facts are, China has emerged as a world power at the expense of the United States, in terms not just regarding trade deficits, but in literally stealing technology with not just commercial, but also military application.

They have literally converted Wall Street into a Chinese proxy, where American Corporations have sold out America in favor of $$$$.

Maybe you should listen to senator Schumer on this.

China doesn’t want to continue being the worlds factory, they want to be a factory for Chinese owned high tech companies. They are stealing high tech IP with plans to have Chinese owned companies producing that high tech to render American companies useless. One example of this is Huawei which has copied Apple. China is very jealous of our high tech companies and we have to protect them. They are in an economical war with the US, we just have never fought back.
They're not stealing it; they're buying it … and, …… from guess who:
