..the rate of sea level rise on Campbell River is 0.014 inch a year...and the ocean is chewing away at his property?
that's about 1 inch in 100 years.....
I think it always has during winter storms...Nothing to do with sea level rise...During the storms a lot of logs etc end up in the water and waves pound them into the shore.

Local sea levels are determined by a variety of factors such as, the volume of water in the ocean, plate tectonics, post glacial rebound (where earth previously weighed down by glaciers rises up after the ice melts), and ocean dynamics. When observing local trends in sea level all of these influences must be accounted for. Campbell River experiences annual uplift (vertical land movement) of approximately 4mm as a result of post glacial rebound and plate tectonics. Currently, the rate of global sea level rise is less than the rate of local uplift.
I'm reading about places all over the country trying to mitigate the effects of climate change. I'm yet to read about this being a big wealth transfer.

I live in a coastal city, but am over 100 feet above sea level...No worries here, but my oldest son lives on the waterfront in Campbell River, and he's a bit concerned, as the ocean is already chewing away at his property.

The frequency of flooding from tides -- NOT just rain is growing.
That is water coming in from the ocean...high tides...King tides......seem to be more frequent. Could be my imagination.
I support policies that protect the environment - -not because of global warming -- just because I like the idea of looking after this planet.
so if we can stop using plastic bags, straws, etc.....let's do it. Somehow society managed without these things for years.
