Happened to turn on tv to one of the public tv subchannels and The Open Mind was on. I was impressed enough with the interview of historian Stephen Knott, to watch whole thing. If you are looking for partisan bashing, you will be disappointed. But its good incite into history of demagogue presidents.

Interesting they mentioned John Quincy Adams as one of the presidents of highest moral character. Dont know lot about him. He lost to Andrew Jackson in 1828, big time demagogue. Jackson accusing Adams of being a pimp. Considered nastiest presidential race in history of the country. I doubt Trump has anything on some of these early presidents far as nastiness, they just didnt have instant communication so less means to do damage. I mean Jackson got the word out through handbills, his version of tweeting.

Pstt... dont tell Trump, he will have to try and out do Jackson. But then Lying Ted and Little Marco no doubt come to his defense.

I've often said Jackson is probably one of the most Trump-like Presidents this country ever had. The difference is the US wasn't a superpower back then, nuclear weapons didn't exist, and we didn't have a global economy (sorry conservatives, the 21st century economy is global like it or not).

The 19th century was a nasty time though, especially pre-civil war.

1. yes back in the day there was a global economy, the entire government mostly was funded on import taxes.
2. Since when did conservatives ever deny a global economy? What we recognize is that the left wants to create a global government. They want to establish a global leadership, a global cabal that runs things, and if you’re going to do that, one of the first objectives you will have is taking out the world’s number one superpower. You can’t run the world as long as the United States is out there.

Over the past decades I've seen a number of candidates sell their soul* to run for the Presidency. It seems to be the price of admission.

* By that I mean I've seen them commit to purposes to which they have been previously consistently opposed.

You need to stop reading the Left Behind books. This "One World Government" is fundamentalist Christian fearmongering and propaganda.

Its not fear mongering, is the damn truth, what do you think all this non-sense about Global Warming is? The real fear mongering and propaganda is stating a faux global crisis, and putting leadership in charge of the global government, and this is the vessel today that is currently being used to fund it.

1794 - Washington actually leads troops against US citizens opposing a tax.

1794 - Soul of the presidency, RIP.

1798 - John Adams and his Federalists push the Sedition Act into law.

1798 - Grave where soul of the presidency was buried in 1794 gets violated.

Stop with the pearl clutching. The presidency has never had a soul. It's the chief bully. Always was, always will be.

Good ole Genocide Jackson the filthy bigot. A Democrat gee go figure.

Next time try discussing policy instead of playing your absurd orange man bad juvenile game. Granted you'd have to become informed and care about rights like an adult would.

It's always about policy.
